THE WIGTOWN EMPORIUM

about us

Proprietors John and Sara Black.

Our shop and bed and breakfast facilities, is on the High Street of the little town of Wigtown out on the edge of the Solway Firth in Dumfries and Galloway.  Wigtown is well established as Scotland’s National  Booktown and The Emporium is something  of a curiosity shop really.

We stock an ever changing mixture of Vintage and Retro finds. From industrial salvage to delicate French lace, we like old style technology too, unusual lighting,  old cameras and radios, wall art, plenty of interesting books and always those one-off  and impossible to categorise ‘found treasures.’  John has years of experience with music related items, records, cameras and all sorts of quirky old technology.  We also have a variety of fascinating books, maps and ephemera.

Sara has a keen eye for quirky folk art and vintage textiles.  Both of us love Art Deco, Arts and Crafts and have a bit of a knack for hunting out hidden gems. You might discover a beautiful old typewriter or an ancient magic lantern machine alongside an elegant Art Deco figurine or a pretty French clock.  We aim to have something for everyone.

Look in often, because no two days are the same at The Wigtown Emporium .
