Description
Highly decorative and colourful oval dish by Mary L Fairgrieve (1875-1967). This is a very attractive piece decorated with fruit and flowers on a yellow ground. It is signed to the base and the inner lid with the initials “MLF” and has the black cat logo. Being hand painted by Mary, this is a rare and unique piece by one of the famous Glasgow Girls. The dish is in very good condition. It is approximately 24cm long by 17cm wide by 10cm high.
Mary L Fairgrieve was born in Glasgow; she studied at the Glasgow School of Art from 1908-1912. She was skilled in many crafts including needlework and ceramic painting. There are examples of her work in the McLean Museum, Greenock and her work also featured in the Kirkcudbright Glasgow Girls Exhibition in 2010.
